YOUR PET'S PAIN -- What You NEED to Know
HOW TO HELP YOUR PAINFUL PET
There is nothing more important than solving your pet's pain. And let me make one thing CLEAR – if your pet is limping, it is because they HURT. No other explanation.
YOUR PET HURTS -- THE FIRST STEP.
The BEST way to help your painful pet is to get a set of x-rays so that we know exactly where your pet is actually painful.
Some general guidelines are…
- If your older pet is limping in their front legs, it is usually their wrist or elbow. Why? Because those joints are where the leg changes angle, and thus they function as shock absorbers.
- If your pet is running into hip problems, you will usually see “bunny hopping”, where your pet advances both hindlegs simultaneously.
- The most common source of SUDDEN hindlimb pain is the knee. When your pet has a painful knee, they cannot sit with the knee tucked in against the body in a normal position – the affected knee splays out to one side.
- Just as with us humans, knee or hip pain frequently causes back pain.
WHY IS SOLVING YOUR PET'S PAIN SO IMPORTANT?
- Because NOBODY should EVER be painful if we can do something about it. If your pet is limping, they need your help.
- Because the inflammation associated with pain will shorten your pet’s life
